The 42 Hour Journey

It's 5am in Jakarta, and I should be in my hotel bed attempting to sleep and adjust to the time change, but I am instead sitting in the Sydney, Australia airport. Our flight out of San Francisco yesterday got delayed for 6 hours because of a mechanical issue before getting cancelled altogether because the flight crew ended up timing out, and we got rerouted through Sydney. So, I got into SFO at 9am, and didn't get out until 11pm. Needless to say, I don't smell good. By the time we land in Jakarta at 3:25pm local time, I will have been in airports or the air for 42 hours.  This trip was already going to win for my longest travel time, but now it has blown everything else out of the water!

The moral of the story? Traveling is never easy or glamorous (unless you're a Kardashian), but it makes for a good story later, so just grin, bear it, and make sure to notice the funny details. (I'll go looking for some funny details now, and then I'll come back and add them for you)
