I Survived the Munchkins!

The other day we visited the most colorful and cheery Islamic elementary school, and I even helped Kate teach a few songs to the babies! I swore I would do no singing, but you just can't help it when they all get going! Check out our day with these cuties:

Another extremely warm welcome with flower necklaces

Of course another welcome sign

The students all had US and Indonesian flags - partnership!

There were opening performances, we gave short speeches, and a few spunky students came up and with questions for us that they prepared in advance. Everyone's first question here is always what we think of their city. It never fails! Students also asked us what we do for fun, what our favorite food is, and where we will visit in Indonesia. We were then presented with a wonderful gift of a model of the Kudus clock tower, and we were asked to write a message to the school on a canvas to remember us by.

Lost in a sea of cuteness

We then headed into a few classrooms (1st, 2nd, and then 6th grade). This was Kate's day to shine since it was her one chance to work with little ones while we are in Kudus, and I was the backup dancer. She taught the 1st and 2nd graders "Head, shoulders, knees and toes," and "The wheels on the bus" to the 6th graders. They all sang along and loved it.

Heads!

Shoulders!

Nose!

I couldn't teach them all day, but a couple of hours for a diplomatic visit was just right! Thank you to Muhhamadiyah Birrual Wiladain Elementary for hosting us with your whole hearts!
